Basements & Cellars
Permanent solutions for wet basements and damp cellars - engineered to withstand the Cape in all seasons.
Why Basements & Cellars Leak
Basements and cellars are below ground level, where water pressure and poor drainage can force moisture through walls and floors.

How We Deal with it Properly
Below-ground moisture cannot be blocked at surface level — pressure must be relieved and internal barriers installed.

Assessment & Water Source Identification
We start with a detailed inspection to determine how water is entering the basement or cellar. Below-ground moisture is often driven by groundwater pressure rather than surface leaks, so identifying the source and pressure conditions is essential before selecting a treatment.

Pressure Relief & Drainage (Where Required)
Where groundwater pressure is present, we install perimeter drainage and sump pump systems to relieve hydrostatic pressure. By controlling water at source and redirecting it safely away, we prevent moisture from being forced into the structure.

Internal Tanking & Waterproof Plaster Systems
Basement walls are treated with cementitious tanking and waterproof plaster systems, creating a continuous internal barrier against lateral water ingress. This system is designed to withstand constant moisture exposure while remaining structurally stable.

Reinstatement & Long-Term Protection
Once waterproofing is complete, surfaces are reinstated to a clean, dry finish suitable for use as storage, living space, or wine cellars. Our systems are selected for durability, longevity, and compatibility with below-ground environments.
Why People Choose Aqua Dampproof
-
Specialists in basements & below-ground waterproofing
We focus on wet basements, cellars, and below-ground structures where groundwater pressure and lateral ingress are the primary causes of failure. -
Engineered systems, not surface treatments
Our solutions combine pressure-relief drainage, sump pump systems, and internal tanking — designed to control water at source rather than mask the symptoms. -
Diagnosis-led inspections & clear recommendations
Every basement project starts with an on-site assessment to identify water entry points, pressure conditions, and structural factors before any work is specified. -
Proven experience with complex moisture conditions
From historic cellars to modern basements, we understand how moisture behaves below ground and how to manage it for long-term performance.
